Frajen Towels

If your kids are anything like Princess and Caveman, you spend a lot of time picking up after them. One of my frustrations has always been bath towels. Even when they got hung up, somehow they’d always end up in a pile on the floor.

Then I went to Ikea. Ikea, how I love thee—the free child care area, the super cheap inexpensive toys and furniture, the meatballs. . . Now I have another reason to love Ikea: the Fräjen bath towel!

Fräjen towels come in 12 colors and 4 sizes: bath sheet (59 x 39), bath towel (55 x 28) , hand towel (28 x 16), and washcloth (12 x 12). The bath towel size is perfect for kids who have outgrown hooded towels but find adult-sized towels a bit unwieldy, and while they are absorbent they aren’t so thick that it takes a year to dry them. The best part? Each towel has a loop of fabric sewn in at the edge near the center of the towel, which makes them super easy to hang up—even for Caveman—and once they are on a hook they stay there!

This is a simple fix, but I think it’s brilliant, and it sure beats me sitting around sewing loops of fabric onto all our towels. I bought six—three in pink for Princess and three in blue for Caveman—and have been absurdly happy at how much easier it has made my life. Not only are the towels off the floor, but they no longer fight over who gets what towel (seriously? who cares?). Also, Caveman is really proud of himself for hanging up his own towel after his bath.

If you are lucky enough to live near an Ikea, I really recommend these. If you aren’t, well, you have two options: make friends with someone who lives near Ikea and will mail them to you, or start sewing loops onto your existing towels!
