The Future’s Not Ours to See… Que Sera Sera

Laura De Veau

It’s been quite a week.  Many things to do, lots of people to see, and several milestones to conquer; it’s weeks like this that I think that just maybe, I can get a glimpse into just who Spicy Girl will be in 22 years.

Monday, the joiner

While visiting with her Yaya and Poppy (since Mommy and Daddy had to work on the holiday and the day care was closed), Spicy Girl enjoyed helping Yaya around the house, trying new foods and simply doing anything that Yaya did.  Quote of the day, “I love Yaya.”

Tuesday, the mediator

Apparently, like any sane people, day care providers appreciate a three day weekend.—until Tuesday, when they are faced with the repercussions of an extra day of leisure which, at a daycare, means kids who are out of their normal routine.  Spicy Girl spent that day intervening in toddler melt downs, and helping the teachers calm down the kiddies.  Quote of the day, “Behave.”

Wednesday, the leader

Hump day is our favorite day to eat out.  Not as crowded as the weekends, and far more fun to not cook at home mid-week.  For Spicy Girl, she is very at home in a restaurant—especially in our neighborhood Chinese restaurant where she feels free to walk into the dining room, go straight to her favorite table and sit down, all without the assistance of the hostess.  Quote of the day, “Look! It’s my table!  Hooray!”

Thursday, the impersonator

Spicy Girl did something to make me laugh.  I can’t remember what she did, but it was funny enough to make me snort.  Which she thought was hysterical.  So she snorted.  And so it went on … for what seemed to be a half an hour; laugh, snort, laugh, snort.   At the end, my jaw hurt.  Quote of the day, “Snort!”

Friday, the event planner

Daddy and Mommy hosted a reception for colleagues from around the city.  Spicy Girl came in tow, and was the life of the party.  She was also the last to leave – and not because we were driving her home, because she loved being in the mix.  Quote of the day, “Mommy, I happy.”

Frankly, in 22 years – that’s the quote that I want to hear the most.

This Weeks Tip

Scrubbing the Porcelain Goddess

How about a natural way to clean the toilet bowl? Mix 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar, pour into toilet and let it fizz for a few minutes. Then scrub it with a brush, and flush. Sparkly clean, saves the environment, and a few dollars too!
