Costume Express

Costume Express

I don’t make Halloween costumes. I just don’t have the mental or physical skills required to put together a homemade costume that actually looks like an identifiable person or thing. And you know what? I’m okay with this. I was given other talents. None of which directly relates to making Halloween costumes.

I realized that I had to acquire costumes this year, since we were already pushing it, squeezing Elise into the same tiger costume two years in a row. It wasn’t pretty last year, let’s just put it like that. We’ve burned the photo evidence.

Also, while I could stick Luke in the hand-me-down toddler bunny costume that Elise and many other kids before her wore, I’ve been feeling a little guilty that he has to endure girl-ish hand-me-downs on a semi-regular basis.

I ordered the kids’ costumes through Costume Express this year (got a catalog in the mail and just ordered online on their website-www.costumeexpress.com). I appreciated the large selection to choose from for toddlers and little kids. (They also carry costumes for older kids as well.) I found THE PERFECT costumes for both of them – a mermaid costume for Elise and an Ewok costume for Luke. I mean, PERFECT. They came within a week of my placing the order; I selected standard shipping. The costumes are of fairly good quality (i.e. not vinyl with a plastic mask; can be worn by multiple children; cute), and I found the prices reasonable.

Elise, now, can’t wait for Halloween after seeing her mermaid costume (she also wore it the whole day it came in the mail). Luke, well, he has no idea he’s going to be stuffed in an Ewok costume, but, at least it’s not a girly bunny, right?

Scrubbing the Porcelain Goddess

How about a natural way to clean the toilet bowl? Mix 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar, pour into toilet and let it fizz for a few minutes. Then scrub it with a brush, and flush. Sparkly clean, saves the environment, and a few dollars too!
