My Collage Farm (by Alex)

My Collage Farm (by Alex)

If you haven’t heard, it’s been raining a lot in the North East. So much so that I’ve started brushing up on my cubits and the hubby has started collecting pairs of animals. Of course there is Spicy Girl who needs some outlet for her pent up energy, and building the Arc is not exactly a “toddler proof” activity. So, we had to find another option.

If you love arts and crafts, but need a “kick start” I highly recommend Alex’s Little Hands “My Collage Farm”. This product provides you with all you need to create four farm animals (chicken, sheep, pig, cow) with all sorts of creative accessorizing. The kit comes with the four pre-cut and semi-colored animals; and enough decorative additions to go the distance.

Buttons, feathers, crayons, stickers, “googly eyes”, pipe cleaners, crepe paper of various shapes and sizes as well as glasses, hats and bow ties to add on are merely SOME of the items that you’ll find when you open the box. It even comes with a very large glue stick. The only thing you might want to add is a pair of safety scissors.

The great part is if you use some storage bags or containers, you can save a good amount of supplies to use for future projects. I’ve gone to cutting out shapes of my own for Spicy Girl to bedazzle, and it seems to make the rainy days go by that much faster.

My grandmother was an art teacher and the head of the art department for a school district on Long Island for the latter part of her career. As I worked with Spicy Girl on her creations I was thrown back to Grandma’s house where we would always do art projects during visits. Grandma was a nut about keeping art supplies clean and organized, and I have started to engrain that in my daughter, “Remember Spicy Girl, Grandma Flavia always says ‘clean supplies are lasting supplies’.” She may not get it now, but she will … and we’ll have Alex to thank as much as Grandma Flavia.

Scrubbing the Porcelain Goddess

How about a natural way to clean the toilet bowl? Mix 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar, pour into toilet and let it fizz for a few minutes. Then scrub it with a brush, and flush. Sparkly clean, saves the environment, and a few dollars too!
